OpenAI news account hacked to publish false cryptocurrency information
OpenAI's official news account has been hacked on the X platform, posting information about the fake cryptocurrency "$OPENAI". The post claims that the token "connects artificial intelligence and blockchain technology" and encourages all OpenAI users to claim a portion of their initial supply. However, $OPENAI does not exist, and the post link points to a phishing site that mimics OpenAI's official website in an attempt to steal users' login credentials. The "Receive $OPENAI" button on the site induces users to connect to their crypto wallets. The misinformation has not been removed, while the comment function has been disabled, increasing the stealth of the scam. This is not the first time OpenAI has suffered such an attack. As early as June 2023, the account of its CTO also posted information similar to the fake token. OpenAI has been the target of several phishing campaigns, and users need to be vigilant to avoid being deceived.
