Apple Approves Epic Games Store to Enter European Market
On the morning of July 5 local time, game developer Epic Games posted a post accusing Apple of rejecting notarized submissions from Apple's Epic Games Store game store twice. Hours later, Epic said that the Epic Games Store submissions had been accepted. The Epic Games Store virtual store is for consumers to purchase a variety of games, including Fortnite. "Apple has rejected notarized submissions from our Epic Games Store twice, claiming that the design and location of Epic's'install 'button is too similar to Apple's'get' button, and that our'in-app purchases' label is too similar to the App Store's'in-app purchases' label." Epic Games' original tweet said. The game developer accused the move of violating European Union rules. Apple said the latest dispute involved Epic's Epic Sweden AB Marketplace app in the Swedish market, which has been approved.
