He pointed out that while building a new monetary system takes time, the industry should create some truly useful products along the way, rather than simply pursuing value extraction. Szilágyi questioned why the current crypto system would not collapse, arguing that the industry has so far achieved only a huge transfer of value and failed to create any real value. He stressed that relying on luck to succeed and move money to non-crypto projects does not count as success in the crypto industry, but only the wealth diversification of individual lucky people. He believes that the industry has reached a point where it must create a truly useful product or consider exiting the market. While bitcoin tries to be a safe-haven asset, other projects are seen as merchants selling shovels in the absence of actual gold mines.
