The CFTC has paid $1 million to whistleblowers of digital asset cases
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced on Aug. 8 that it had paid a $1 million reward to the whistleblower for providing information that led to enforcement action in the digital asset market. The regulator said the whistleblower provided previously unknown details of improper trading.
Under the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA), the CFTC did not disclose the identity of the whistleblower, specific enforcement actions, or the exact amount of the reward. IanMc Ginley, CFTC enforcement director, praised the whistleblower, saying that as more Americans fall victim to digital asset scams, their information is critical.
