Nigerian crypto wallets linked to protests evade government freeze measures
Nigeria's National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu announced at a National Committee meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on August 13 that the government has blocked 83 billion naira (about $52 million) in cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies linked to the funders of the EndBadGovernance protests. This includes 50 million dollars in cryptocurrency, 38 million dollars allegedly frozen in four wallets, and 4 billion naira allegedly donated by politicians from Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Katsina.
