PleasrDAO files lawsuit against Martin Shkreli over Wu-Tang Clan album copyright
PleasrDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization, has filed a lawsuit against Martin Shkreli (nicknamed pharma bro), the former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals, known for collecting digital and physical artwork, sharing ownership among DAO members, and donating to charitable causes. The lawsuit is in response to Shkreli's June 9 X Spaces event, which allegedly livestreamed to listeners the Wu-Tang Clan album, which is the copyright of PleasrDAO (the album was acquired by PleasrDAO in 2021). PleasrDAO accused Shkreli of causing undue damage to Pleasr, noting "significant monetary and irreparable damages" in the official complaint.
In 2021, PleasrDAO acquired the Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Timein Shaolin from an asset forfeiture auction in two separate transactions for approximately $4.75 million.
