OP Labs Releases Upgrade Proposal to Fix Security Bugs Found in Third-Party Security Audits

According to Optimism governance information, OP Labs protocol engineer Mofi has released an upgrade proposal, Granite Network Upgrade, which is designed to address security bugs discovered by Spearbit, Cantina, and Code4rena in a series of third-party security audits. None of the related vulnerabilities have been exploited, and user assets have never been threatened. The proposal states that the upgrade will include a series of smart contract upgrades to fix the vulnerabilities found in the audit, as well as an L2 hard fork to improve the stability and performance of the error-proof system. A license rollback mechanism has been initiated out of an abundance of caution to avoid any potential instability during the patching of the vulnerabilities. If the proposal is approved, the Granite Network Upgrade is scheduled for 16:00 UTC on September 10 and has been launched on the internal development network and Sepolia Superchain in coordination with Base and Conduit.
