Polygon Exec: Tokenized RWA Represents $30 trillion Market Opportunity Worldwide
Colin Butler, head of global institutional capital at Polygon, said in an interview that RWA represents a $30 trillion market opportunity globally. High net worth individuals and private equity funds will drive adoption in this space as tokenization brings liquidity and accessibility to historically illiquid asset classes.
To date, investments in tokenized private credit vehicles have reached about $9 billion, according to RWA.xyz. Butler said this number will grow significantly as large private equity funds enter the space, adding that this is already starting to happen and the trend is expected to continue, with tens of billions of additional tokenized private assets issued in the coming years.
In addition to stablecoins, the RWA market is currently worth $11.66 billion, with the most popular being tokenized money market funds such as BlackRock's BUIDL and Franklin's FOBXX. According to RWA.xyz, the two manage around $520 million and $420 million respectively.
