On August 20, Emomotimi Agama, director general of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said the regulator plans to issue the first licenses for digital services and tokenized assets this month. "As a crypto enthusiast and fintech enthusiast, I can tell you without a doubt that this will happen sooner than you think," Agama said in an interview with Bloomberg TV. "We have to support the youth of the country so that they can benefit from fintech. The market is huge and growing."
Previously, it was reported yesterday that the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission has issued the first temporary operating license to local crypto exchange Quidax.
