Kaspersky detects cryptocurrency and Web3 fraud campaign orchestrated by Russian-speaking cybercriminals
Kaspersky has detected a cyber fraud campaign aimed at stealing cryptocurrencies and sensitive information using hot topics such as web3, encryption, artificial intelligence and online gaming. It is understood that the campaign was orchestrated by Russian-speaking cybercriminals. Kaspersky named the cybercriminals behind the campaign as "Tusk". They created fake websites that mimicked legitimate services, involving websites that mimicked cryptocurrency platforms, online role-playing games and AI translations to obtain sensitive information such as credentials, while clipboard data was monitored to replace copied cryptocurrency wallet addresses with malicious addresses.
