French media: Telegram has limited means of blocking, serving as a haven for illegal political movements
On August 25th, according to the French newspaper Le Monde, the Telegram platform is often criticized for its lack of supervision, and only partial and very limited bans are carried out. Due to the lack of regulatory rules, Telegram has become a haven for many political movements that are banned on all other platforms, such as the conspiracy movement QAnon, and Hamas, where the group has opened dozens of official and unofficial accounts.
Telegram blocked one of Hamas's official channels in Europe. The group, the Hamas Movement, which has about 150,000 subscribers, posted a video of Hamas activists taking Mia Schem hostage during the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on the Nova tribal music festival. But telegram's oversight remains partial and very limited.
