US agents tried to bribe engineers to gain better control of Telegram.
According to a video of a previous interview with Telegram CEO Pavel Durov by Tucker Carlson, a prominent US political commentator and journalist, Durov said: "Every time we come to the US, we get too much attention from the FBI and other security agencies. The last time I went to the US, I brought an engineer who works at Telegram. Cyber security officials or agents tried to hire my engineers secretly behind my back. They wanted to know what open source libraries were integrated into Telegram's app and tried to convince him to use some open source tools that act as backdoors."
"I personally experienced similar pressures in the US. Whenever I went to the US, I was met at the airport by two FBI agents asking questions. My understanding was that they wanted to build a relationship to better control Telegram."
