EigenLayer's EigenDA begins to support Layer2 native token re-staking
On August 27th, according to Cointelegraph, EigenDA, the EigenLayer data availability solution, now supports native token re-staking for the Layer2 scaling network in addition to supporting Ethereum. "Teams can now re-staking their ERC-20 tokens to ensure a custom quorum for their rollup, thus unlocking stronger security for rollup users and providing token payouts for token holders," the announcement said.
EigenDA is the first and largest "Active Verification Service" (AVS) launched on EigenLayer. According to the EigenLayer website, it is protected by about 3.60 million ETH re-pledged and 71.50 million EIGEN contributed by more than 128,000 pledgers. Native token re-staking on EigenDA allows Layer2 to create a custom consensus mechanism or "quorum" to securely store and access data. It also expands the range of tokens that receive proceeds from re-staking. "With the custom ERC20 token quorum being added to EigenDA, participants will soon have the option to support staking other tokens in the same way as staking ETH and EIGEN tokens," the announcement said.
