Solana's single-day transaction fees fell to a multi-month low as the meme craze cooled
On August 27th, according to The Block, the total transaction fees paid daily on the Solana blockchain measured in US dollars have fallen to the lowest level since the beginning of May 2024. The data shows that on Monday, Solana's daily transaction fees fell to $639,000, a decrease of 65% compared to the peak of $1.83 million reached on the 8th of this month, and a decrease of 87% compared to the all-time high of $5.08 million set on March 18th.
Ruslan Lienkha, Head of Markets at YouHodler, said the drop in daily transaction fees indicates a decrease in activity on the Solana network, with Meme Coin trading being the most affected. Lienkha said: "I think the lower transaction fees are related to the cooling of the Meme Coin craze. Lienkha said Solana has gained recognition as a key chain for the Meme project, while the current decline in user activity may indicate the final stage of the Meme Coin hype in the current crypto market. He added:" This is similar to the NFT trading situation we observed in the last crypto cycle, where Solana usage is decreasing as the Meme Coin bubble recedes. "
