Xu Zhengyu: Hong Kong will continue to promote the development of virtual asset futures and options-related products
The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong, Hui Cheng-yu, replied to the question of Hon Lee Wai-hung at the Legislative Council meeting yesterday "whether it will discuss with the relevant regulators to launch more futures and options products for mainstream virtual assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum", saying that the Hong Kong government and regulators will continue to promote the development of virtual asset-related products. Since the policy declaration was issued, Hong Kong's virtual asset-related products have made good progress. Following the introduction of the first batch of virtual asset futures ETFs in 2022, the first batch of virtual asset spot ETFs in Asia were listed in Hong Kong in April this year, providing investors with richer virtual asset investment options. As of the end of May, the total asset management scale of virtual asset futures and spot ETFs listed in Hong Kong reached HK $3.20 billion.
