The UK has issued its first cryptocurrency ATM indictment, accusing a resident of using an illegal ATM to launder 300,000 pounds
British police have issued the country's first cryptocurrency ATM indictment after accusing a resident of operating an illegal cryptocurrency ATM and laundering 300,000 pounds (395,000 dollars).
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) issued a ban on cryptocurrency ATMs in 2022, warning that machine holders must register with the FCA. The regulator has since launched a crackdown on unregistered cryptocurrency ATMs.
"There are currently no cryptocurrency ATMs registered with the FCA, so if you use one of these machines, you may be handing over funds to criminals," the FCA stressed in its indictment.
