Indian court orders removal of scam website using cryptocurrency exchange Mudrex name
Cryptocurrency exchange Mudrex has obtained a court order ordering India's Ministry of Communications to shut down as many as 38 websites using the company's name to commit fraud. The Delhi High Court handed down its verdict on August 23, one day after the petition was filed, giving the ministry a week to execute.
Mudrex took the case to court after about 15 people contacted customer support or came to its Bangalore office to report they had been scammed. "We estimate the number of retail investors who were actually scammed could be 1,000 and the estimated losses could be in excess of $50,000," Edul Patel, chief executive and co-founder of Mudrex, said in an interview.
