Trump: Zuckerberg will "go to jail" if he obstructs the US presidential election again
On August 30, according to POLITICO, former US President Donald Trump wrote in a new book to be published next week that Mark Zuckerberg conspired against him during the 2020 US election, and said that if Zuckerberg did so again, he "would spend the rest of his life in prison".
It represented the latest attack by Mr. Trump on Mr. Zuckerberg, who he has repeatedly accused of meddling in the last US presidential election, and came as Meta took steps to reassure conservatives that it would not influence this year's election campaign.
"Save America," a book by Mr. Trump that will be published on Sept. 3, includes an undated photo of Mr. Trump meeting with Mr. Zuckerberg at the White House. Mr. Trump mentioned that Mr. Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, donated $420 million to fund election infrastructure during the 2020 election. "He told me there's no one like Trump on Facebook. But at the same time, for some reason, he's directing it against me."
Mr. Trump continued, "We are watching him very closely, and if he does anything illegal this time, he will spend the rest of his life in prison - as will anyone else who cheated in the 2024 U.S. presidential election." A Meta spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
