Bitlayer Announces Replacement of Existing USDC Token Contracts
On August 30, Bitlayer, a bitcoin native second-layer project, announced that it will contract replace the existing USDC Token. According to the official announcement, the token corresponding to the old contract will be renamed USDC .e in the official platform and main community projects. The new token will continue to use the USDC name. Bitlayer's official cross-chain bridge and main DeFi projects will support the new USDC. To ensure a smooth transition of user assets, Bitlayer will provide an official exchange entrance and exchange tutorial, allowing users to exchange USDC .e for the new USDC at a ratio of 1:1. The specific contract replacement time will be disclosed in the subsequent official announcement.
This move is mainly to comply with the requirements of the Circle protocol and strategically introduce Circle into the Bitlayer ecosystem. Bitlayer will ensure that all operations comply with compliance requirements during this adjustment process, the safety of users' assets will be fully guaranteed, and the impact on users will be minimized.
