Pro-cryptocurrency lawyer John Deaton won the Republican Senate nomination in the Massachusetts primary and will run against Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren in November. According to the Associated Press on September 4, Deaton defeated two other Republican candidates.
As of press time, Deaton has received 64% of the votes. Notably, Deaton's campaign has the support of several high-profile figures in the crypto industry, including the Winklevoss brothers and Ripple executives. Crypto political action committee Commonwealth Unity Fund has invested more than $1 million in Massachusetts to support Deaton's campaign. Major donors to Deaton include founders and executives of companies such as Ripple, Gemini, SkyBridge Capital, Cardano, and Kraken.
Deaton's campaign fundraising had reached about $1.70 million as of July 31, according to Federal Election Commission records. Previously, Deaton filed amicus briefs with the SEC on behalf of 4,701
