ASI Alliance calls for decentralization of cloud infrastructure in artificial intelligence development
The Artificial Intelligence Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance recently issued a statement at X advocating for the decentralization of cloud infrastructure and its role in developing general artificial intelligence (AGI). The Alliance believes that centralized Clouds as a Service such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure have multiple vulnerabilities, including the risk of a single point of failure.
Humayun Sheikh, CEO of Fetch.ai and chairperson of the ASI Alliance, explains that centralized cloud structures are "vulnerable to cyber attacks or disruption". "By decentralizing the cloud, data and control are distributed across independent nodes, ensuring that if one node fails, the entire system remains safe and operational and reduces the likelihood of catastrophic failure."
