The New York judge ordered the SEC to provide some documents in the Coinbase case, but not those related to Gensler

A New York judge has granted part of a motion by cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to require the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) to hand over documents, but the exchange's motion to issue a subpoena to SEC Chairperson Gary Gensler was denied. In the order, US District Judge Katherine Polk Failla said: "For the reasons set forth in the minutes of the conference call dated September 5, 2024, the court partially grants and partially dismisses defendants' motion to compel." Coinbase has asked the court to compel the agency to provide certain documents related to the tokens in the SEC complaint, documents related to the SEC's consideration of Coinbase as a public company in April 2021, and personal and professional statements made by Gensler during his tenure at the SEC.
