US AI giants and senior officials discuss artificial intelligence infrastructure needs
Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, and Renxun Huang, chief executive of Nvidia, met with senior Biden administration officials and other industry leaders at the White House on Thursday to discuss how to meet the vast infrastructure needs of artificial intelligence projects. The tech community also included Dario Amodei, chief executive of Anthropic, Ruth Porat, president of Google, and Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, according to people familiar with the matter. On the government side, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimundo, the president's national security adviser Sullivan, and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm attended. Representatives from the energy industry also attended. A White House official said the discussions revolved around strengthening the Public-Private Partnership on the development of artificial intelligence data centers in the United States. The people familiar with the matter said that the topics discussed include permitting facilities, labor, electricity demand, and its economic impact.
