Meta to resume AI training in the UK after regulatory suspension
Meta will start training its artificial intelligence models using content shared publicly by adult users in the UK on Facebook and Instagram. The company will use publicly available information such as posts, comments, photos and captions from adult users on both platforms.
"We are building artificial intelligence on Meta to reflect different communities around the world, and we look forward to rolling it out in more countries and languages later this year," Meta said. Meta said it would not use the account info of UK under-18s.
In July, the Irish Data Protection Commission ordered Meta to suspend the launch of artificial intelligence assistants in the European Union due to data privacy concerns, and Meta subsequently suspended the release of artificial intelligence in the European Union.
