EigenLayer has announced the upcoming launch of a new protocol feature, "Programmatic Incentives v1". This feature will distribute newly minted EIGEN tokens as a reward to eligible stakers and the operators they entrust each week starting in October 2024. These incentives will be retroactively based on staking since August 15, 2024. In the first year, programmatic incentive v1 will distribute approximately 66,945,866 EIGEN tokens, equivalent to 4% of the initial supply of EIGEN tokens (approximately 1,673,646,668 tokens). Of this amount, 3% will be allocated to ETH and LST pledgers and operators, and 1% to EIGEN pledgers and operators. To receive the programmed incentive, the operator must register at least one AVS, and the pledger must entrust the operator with at least one AVS. The programmed incentive will be open for collection every Wednesday at 3 am Beijing time.
