Japanese think tank: Most economists expect the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates in December
The Bank of Japan is widely expected to keep its key overnight lending rate unchanged at 0.25% this week, and the December meeting could be even more interesting. Of the 36 economists surveyed by the Center for Economic Research of Japan, 19 expect the BoJ to raise interest rates again in December. Ahead of the December 18-19 BoJ meeting, the bank will look at key indicators to gauge whether the economy is on track, including the BoJ's Tankan survey for September and December, third-quarter GDP data, and corporate earnings for the quarter.
