Vitalik: The current crypto space is no longer in its infancy
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, said during the keynote speech "What Excites Me About the Next Decade" on the first day of the main venue of TOKEN2049:
People tend to say that it's still early days for crypto and we're still building out the infrastructure. Indeed, how long did it take for something like the internet to come to fruition, I think people have been saying that almost all the time since Bitcoin launched. And one of the real challenges we face now is that today's crypto space is no longer in its early days.
Ethereum has been around as a project for more than 10 years, and in the 15 years since the birth of Bitcoin, we have seen things like ChatGPT grow from complete non-existence to sudden rise, revolutionizing the understanding of artificial intelligence.
So the question we have to ask ourselves is, how do we really think about all this? Are we really still in the early stages? My answer to that question is, I don't think we're in the early days of crypto, but we're really in a special stage.
