Chongqing police cracked a virtual currency theft case involving about 400,000 yuan

The Liangjiang New District Branch of the Chongqing Public Security Bureau successfully detected a virtual currency theft case involving about 400,000 yuan and arrested 3 alleged offenders. The case began at the end of June 2024. The Tiangong Police Station of the Liangjiang New District Branch received a report from a technology company in the area, saying that more than 2.6 million BLAST tokens (a virtual currency) were stolen from the company's account. By analyzing the transaction path and capital flow, the police quickly locked and arrested the alleged offenders Yang, Wu and Sheng. After investigation, the three suspects were all former employees of the technology company. They took advantage of their positions to implant malicious code into the company's computer and steal the company's virtual wallet address and private key password. On the evening of June 26, after the company's virtual wallet received the BLAST tokens issued by the official, the suspects immediately transferred the tokens to Prepend's wallet, and then cashed out and distributed the stolen goods. At present, the three suspects have been arrested by the procuratorial organs on suspicion of theft, and the case is under further investigation.
