South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb changes compliance officer
The compliance officer of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb tendered his resignation on the eve of a routine inspection by the Financial Supervisory Service and was replaced on September 20. It is reported that the former compliance officer and vice president tendered his resignation in early September due to personal reasons. Bithumb has appointed a new compliance officer on the 20th. Bithumb is currently preparing to undergo the qualification renewal of virtual asset service provider (VASP) in November. Industry sources said that the situation of the compliance officer being replaced was suspicious before the Financial Supervisory Service conducted a regular inspection of Bithumb, which is expected to take place this week. However, Bithumb strongly denied this suspicion and said that Vice President Cui left the company for personal reasons and announced his intention to resign before the relevant information came to light.
