SEC Chairperson Gary Gensler Announces House Testimony: Fiscal Year 2023 Fines and Recovery Amount of $4.90 billion
The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) Gary Gensler released the full text of his testimony to the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, which disclosed that the work of law enforcement is the core of the SEC's investor protection responsibilities. In fiscal year 2023, the SEC took 784 enforcement actions, and the amount of fines and recoveries reached $4.90 billion. Where feasible, the civil penalties and recoveries obtained by the Securities Exchange Commission in civil enforcement actions will be returned to the aggrieved investors, and the aggrieved investors will be allocated $930 million in fiscal year 2023.
