The president of El Salvador and the vice president of Argentina discussed cryptocurrency during their meeting
On October 4, El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele met with Argentine Vice President Victoria Villarruel during an official visit to Argentina to discuss cryptocurrencies and El Salvador's experience with bitcoin.
Argentina's senators and top government officials are very interested in bitcoin. During an official visit to Argentina, El Salvador's president, Nayib Bukele, met with a group of national senators and Argentina's vice president to discuss the cryptocurrency topic.
Although the discussions were private, a pre-meeting video shows Argentine Vice President Victoria Villarruel asking about El Salvador's experience in the bitcoin space, which has been used as legal tender for years.
"I would personally like to use these few minutes to talk to you about bitcoin, which is something I'm very interested in," Villarruel said.
In addition, Villarruel has also expressed interest in so-called volcanic bonds, which have been on hold for several years. Bukele proposed the bonds as part of a financing plan for the Bitcoin City, a bitcoin-centric metropolis that was announced in 2021 but has yet to be built.
