South Korean lawmakers demand special investigation into KOK cryptocurrency scam in parliamentary audit
On the first day of South Korea's parliamentary audit in Seoul, lawmakers have called for a special investigation into the KOK cryptocurrency scam that may have been promoted by the right-wing daily Chosun Ilbo. Victims are said to have accused two of Chosun Ilbo's subsidiaries of knowing that cryptocurrency was fraudulent, and that the fraudsters used the positive publicity to reassure investors that KOK was legitimate, and the newspaper also delayed the prosecution. In South Korea alone, the "KOK" incident is estimated to have caused 4 trillion won ($2.97 billion) in losses.
