ALEX Releases Security Event Update: Attacker's Chain Balance Is About 5.56 million STX
On June 17, the Bitcoin DeFi platform ALEX Lab released a security incident update on X. As of 11:00 am on June 17, the attacker has broadcast more than 9,700 transactions, which involve generating new wallet addresses and then dispersing the on-chain STX balance into these new wallets. The number of trackable transactions started to grow exponentially from 300 to more than 9,600, and has been accelerating without any signs of pause. This also means that the number of unique addresses for attackers increased from less than 100 to more than 4,700 in 7 days.
A small amount of STX was transferred to thousands of new addresses, which were subsequently sent to CEX. Most CEX fully cooperated with us during the recovery process, however, the attackers were aware of this and quickly moved to the sending address of the CEX stolen funds. The current amount of traceable STX deposited into CEX is 8,373,587 STX, and the attacker's current on-chain balance is approximately 5,560,332 STX (calculated based on wallet balances of over 100STX).
