WSJ: Trump's lead on Polymarket may be faked by big bets, designed to build momentum for Trump's influence
According to the Wall Street Journal, the odds of Trump winning the November election have risen sharply on Polymarket, a cryptocurrency prediction market, over the past two weeks. As of Thursday, bettors on the platform put the odds of Trump winning at 62 percent, while Harris had a 38 percent chance. But in early October, the two candidates were still close.
The surge may have been a sham created by four Polymarket accounts that together invested about $30 million in cryptocurrency to bet on Trump's victory. Miguel Morel, CEO of blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence, said after the review that he had good reason to believe the four accounts belonged to the same entity.
