US Crypto Political Action Committee Fairshake Spends $2 million on Offensive Ads Targeting New York Lawmakers

On June 18, the Fairshake Group, a political action committee (PAC) backed by cryptocurrency companies including Ripple and Coinbase, has invested more than $2 million to oppose incumbents in the Democratic primary for New York's 16th Congressional District. According to the Federal Election Commission, Fairshake's funds are mainly used for media advertising aimed at preventing the re-election of Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman. As of June 16, outside interests had accumulated about $9 million to boycott Bowman, who will face Democrat George Latimer in the June 25 primary. Fairshake's attack ad did not directly mention cryptocurrency or blockchain, but accused Bowman of "promoting dangerous conspiracy theories" during his career.
