US Treasury Secretary Yellen: There is really no other currency that can compare to the dollar
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that the dollar is and will continue to be critical to the United States as the world's primary reserve currency, and that the dollar's status is indeed based on our strong macroeconomic performance, low inflation, sound institutions, strong capital markets, the rule of law, and very deep and liquid capital markets. There is really no other currency that can match the dollar. Confidence in the dollar's position will ensure that we continue to be on a sound fiscal path, which does require deficit reduction in the coming years, and continued focus on keeping the real net interest cost of debt close to historical levels and below 2% is very important.
