Meta and Reuters reach first AI news deal
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has struck a multi-year partnership with Reuters to integrate the artificial intelligence chat feature into its platform. The partnership will enable Meta's artificial intelligence chatbot to extract Reuters news to answer users' questions about current events, according to Axios, citing people familiar with the matter. From October 25, the feature will be rolled out to US users on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger through Meta's AI assistant.
With this integration, Meta's artificial intelligence can now be linked directly to Reuters news articles when answering relevant questions. Details of the deal, including any license to train Meta's Large Language Model (LLM), known as Llama, were not disclosed.
