Trump proposes eliminating federal income tax and replacing revenue sources with import tariffs

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, former President Donald Trump said he was seriously considering eliminating the U.S. federal income tax and replacing sources of revenue with import tariffs. Trump pointed to former U.S. President William McKinley's tariff policies in the 1890s that brought great prosperity to the country, and argued that the same policy should be adopted today to fund the government. Trump told Rogan that tariffs created so much revenue that administration officials didn't know how to spend the money: "We're so rich. We have so much money. We don't know what to do, so they set up a blue ribbon. The Tariff Commission. The only purpose is to do something with all our money."
