Decentralized Shared Sorting Layer Astria Launches Mainnet
Astria, a decentralised shared ordering layer, has launched the mainnet, one of the projects aimed at decentralising blockchain "sequencers" - components of a layer 2 network that compile transactions occurring on a secondary network so they can be recorded on a main layer 1 blockchain such as Ethereum. Astria says its setup represents "a single, permissionless network that can be shared by multiple rollups, providing settlement (i.e. bridging) and decentralised sorting, with fast (about 2 seconds) block times and single-slot finality".
