On October 31st, Michael Saylor, the executive chairperson of MicroStrategy, forwarded a false message about Trump's cryptocurrency policy to his 3.60 million fans on the social platform X. The remarks claimed that Trump supports the elimination of cryptocurrency taxation and said "Bitcoin is money". After investigation, the misinformation originally originated from a post by social media account Basedkarbon on October 28. The news was then retweeted by several well-known cryptocurrency social media accounts, including Kraken and Bitcoin Archive. Trump did raise the idea of eliminating federal income taxes in a recent interview with the Joe Rogan podcast, but did not touch on the topic of digital assets.
