AI startup Crusoe Energy is raising $500 million at a $3 billion valuation
AI infrastructure company Crusoe Energy is closing an equity round of about $500 million led by billionaire Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, valuing the company at $3 billion, double what it was two years ago, just weeks after it announced a $3.40 billion joint venture with Lancium Clean Campus to build a data centre in Texas.
Crusoe Energy has completed a $200 million financing round and purchased thousands of Nvidia H100 GPUs at the end of 2023. According to a PitchBook report, 40% of the total venture capital spending of $93 billion in the first half of 2024 went to AI companies. Founders Fund has reportedly been involved in the company's financing since its 2019 seed round, and the fund previously invested in OpenAI, which is valued at over $157 billion.
