The Justice Department is considering ending the criminal case against Trump

On the 6th local time, according to NBC, citing sources familiar with the matter, officials of the Department of Justice have begun to evaluate how to end two federal criminal cases against President-elect Trump before he takes office, in order to comply with the policy that a sitting president cannot be indicted. According to sources, Justice Department officials do not believe there is enough room to continue to file these two criminal cases against Trump, and it is pointless to continue to file cases in the weeks before he takes office. Previously, Trump faced multiple indictments, including federal lawsuits accused of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election and mishandling classified documents after leaving office, as well as "hush money" state court cases.
