Opinion: Trump's re-election could prompt a surge in crypto mergers and acquisitions
Trump's plans to replace the SEC chairperson after his re-election as president are expected to bring a friendlier regulatory environment to the crypto industry. Several M & A consultants and venture capitalists expect the new SEC leadership to accelerate crypto mergers and acquisitions in 2025. Casper Johansen of The Spartan Group and Haseeb Qureshi of Dragonfly Capital both said CEOs are likely to accelerate expansion through acquisitions under Trump. Several crypto companies, including FalconX and Tether, have merger plans, but high valuations remain an obstacle to mergers and acquisitions.
