The US judge rejected Meta's request to dismiss Andrew Forrest's lawsuit
Citing a section of a 1996 federal law in an attempt to evade a crypto advertising lawsuit by Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest, a U.S. judge has denied Meta Platform's request to dismiss a lawsuit by Australian billionaire mining magnate Andrew Forrest alleging that Forrest used depth-faked images in Facebook ads to promote a cryptocurrency scam.
In the June 17 order, California District Judge Casey Pitts said Forrest could reopen the suit and try to prove that Meta's negligence in failing to stop the fraudulent ads violated its obligation to operate in a "commercially reasonable manner."
Previously, on February 22, Facebook said it was not responsible for billionaire Andrew Forrest's crypto scam ads.
