President-elect Donald Trump announced via social media that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will serve as Secretary of the Interior and Chairperson of the newly created National Energy Commission. Trump said that the National Energy Commission is a newly created department that will be involved in the licensing, production, generation, distribution, regulation, and transportation of all forms of energy in the United States. The commission will oversee America's continued energy dominance by reducing red tape, strengthening private sector investment in all areas of the economy, and by focusing on innovation.
