Bloomberg analysts: CFTC issues notice to clear the way for the listing of spot bitcoin ETF options

Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas posted on the X platform that the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a notice to clear the way for the listing of spot bitcoin ETF options, and related products are expected to be listed soon. According to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission notice information forwarded by Eric Balchunas, the agency's clearing and risk department said in the employee consultation notice that spot bitcoin ETF options are for ETF stocks registered as securities with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). These stocks are listed and traded on the national stock exchange registered with the SEC, and are cleared and settled by the options clearing company as the sole issuer of all stock options. Given the relevant court precedent, it is likely that these spot commodity ETF shares will be considered securities, and therefore the listing of these shares on an SEC-registered national stock exchange does not involve the jurisdiction of the CFTC. Liquidation will proceed in its capacity as a registered clearing house supervised by the SEC.
