A man in the United States who ran bitcoin mixer Helix to launder more than $300 million in BTC has been sentenced to more than three years in prison
An Ohio man, Larry Harmon, has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for helping criminals launder more than $300 million in bitcoin drug money, according to Bloomberg. Harmon ran Helix, a bitcoin mixer on the dark web that helped hundreds of drug dealers evade tracking. Despite his serious behavior, the judge granted clemency for Harmon's assistance in prosecuting other cryptocurrency cases in the United States. Harmon was ordered to forfeit $311 million and was fined $60 million by the US Treasury.
