Trump meets with Coinbase CEO to discuss personnel appointments

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump will meet with the CEO of cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase on Monday, according to people familiar with the matter. It is reported that the two will discuss personnel issues for the next administration. The meeting between Trump and Brian Armstrong will be the first between the two since Election Day, as Trump continues to appoint cabinet members and other senior positions. Trump, a former skeptic of cryptocurrencies, has now become a supporter of the industry. At the annual bitcoin conference earlier this year, Trump had said that if he wins the presidential race, he will appoint a presidential advisory council on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to design transparent regulatory guidance. Since Mr. Trump's victory, Mr. Armstrong has publicly debated who should be the next head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, saying he thought Hester Peirce, Mr. Trump's SEC commissioner, was "the perfect candidate".
