Suriname presidential candidate Maya Parbhoe: If elected president, bitcoin will be made legal tender

Maya Parbhoe, a presidential candidate in the South American country of Suriname, has an ambitious vision to build a bitcoin country that is more deeply rooted in cryptocurrencies than El Salvador. Parbhoe, who is also the CEO of Daedalus Labs, a Bitcoin and NOSTR-based service, has outlined a bold plan to fight corruption and provide tangible benefits to citizens by adopting the Bitcoin standard - provided she wins the upcoming 2025 election. Her first priority is to make bitcoin (BTC) legal tender once she takes office. Within the first year, she plans to gradually replace the Surinamese dollar with satoshi (the smallest unit of bitcoin) and ensure that all salaries are paid in BTC.
