Goldman Sachs warns that Trump's tariff proposals could exacerbate inflation

Goldman Sachs analysis pointed out that US President-elect Trump's proposed 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico is expected to bring nearly $300 billion in annual revenue, but could lead to a 0.9% increase in core PCE inflation. Jan Hatzius, chief economist at Goldman Sachs, said that the tariff will significantly push up consumer prices. While the tariff proposal may be Trump's negotiating strategy, and implementation remains uncertain, market expectations for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates have begun to wane. (Jin Ten)
